A prepared receiving team can turn a container arrival into an orderly handoff. Appoint someone to meet the vehicle, direct it to the approved area and coordinate unloading. That person needs the shipment reference, inventory and a way to contact the shipper if something differs.
Before arrival
Confirm the appointment, entrance, unloading method and availability of people and equipment. Clear the planned working area. If the location cannot receive as arranged, inform dispatch before the truck is committed to the final approach.
During receiving
Follow the agreed process for identifying the container and any seal reference. Count packages against the final packing list. Record visible condition concerns and discrepancies using item references and clear factual notes. Photographs can support the record where appropriate. Do not make assumptions about the cause of an issue from appearance alone.
After unloading
Send the agreed delivery record to the responsible parties and identify any unresolved inventory difference. Confirm the next equipment movement, including whether the container is ready for an empty return. Do not leave the carrier to discover that return instructions are missing after unloading is complete.
Commercial reporting and claims requirements depend on the shipment arrangement and should be checked directly. Driver Can Cargo provides the confirmed transport scope; customer teams arrange unloading and receipt of the goods.
